Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking a dedicated Referral Specialist to join a busy multi-specialty practice in Connecticut. This role is a 3-6-month assignment located in the New Haven area. The Referral Specialist serves as the central point of contact for all medical office activities related to patient referrals for a specific specialty, ensuring a seamless and efficient process for both patients and providers.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone calls within a high-volume call center environment, providing administrative assistance for all patient calls and department staff.
• Escalate any urgent patient inquiries to the corresponding providers or clinicians.
• Manage the department's monthly calendar with schedule updates and pertinent provider information.
• Schedule and confirm patient appointments, resolve scheduling conflicts, notify patients of changes or cancellations, and prioritize urgent scheduling requests.
• Update patient information and verify insurance information, including initiating billing processes by completing patient encounter forms.
• Schedule surgical procedures for patients, coordinating available dates for surgery and scheduling pre and post-operative exams and lab work.
• Obtain and distribute necessary paperwork, utilizing a tracking system to provide updated scheduling information to clinical staff.
• Utilize computer input and receive important patient data necessary for referral and scheduling management.
• Obtain patient charts, medical records, and lab reports, ensuring completeness.

Qualifications

• 3+ years handling medical referrals.
• Epic experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience scheduling in a high-volume healthcare call-center or practice.
• Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience using electronic medical record systems, multi-line telephones, and call queues.

Required Work Hours

Available from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, with standard hours of 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
